Job Description and Duties
This position may be extended up to 24 months and may become permanent at a later date
Under the general direction of the Prison Industries Manager, this position plans, organizes and supervises daily operations of a Fabric Products enterprise within a correctional institution. Plan and schedule the repair and maintenance of all equipment. Make sound and accurate decisions with regard to the daily operation of the facilities. Schedule labor, materials and parts purchases and equipment needs. Supervise and coordinate the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of all equipment. Has overall responsibility for production, quality, inventory, process control, method analysis, and cost control; material research and procurement; make recommendations to increase production efficiency and ensure that an effective quality control program is in place. Direct the ordering, shipping, and handling of all production materials and supplies to meet production goals; direct the scheduling and shipping of finished goods, maintain an adequate work force, check and secure the factory at the end of each workday; supervise staff in the documenting of annual and final Industry Employment Program forms.

Employees new to CALPIA will be required to attend New Employee Orientation (NEO) prior to starting work within an institution or Central Office. NEO is four days (32 hours), and will be conducted at the Green Valley Training Center in Folsom, CA. New employees traveling 50 miles or more from their home address or headquarters location to attend NEO will receive a travel advance sufficient for meals, incidentals, and travel accommodations for the duration of NEO . Any questions or concerns regarding NEO training can be addressed during the interview process.

- Experience with budeting
- Experience preparing work orders
- Experience analyzing reports, monthly accounting, cost analysis and forecasting
