Mall Services has 4 vacancies, Full-Permanent Psychiatric Technicians (PT). We are looking for an energetic PTs who want to take an active part in providing day treatment to our patient population. A large part of your duties will include facilitating patient groups (e.g., Coping Skills, Symptom Mgmt, CONREP Prep, etc.). In addition to facilitating groups, PT assignments also include escorting patients to and from their home units daily, helping with special events, and assisting patients with their group schedules. These positions require that PTs be flexible as assignments change based on daily staffing needs. Candidates need to be friendly, enthusiastic, and able to form therapeutic relationships with a wide variety of patients. Candidates with experience on residential units or providing groups are preferred. Clear communication with patients, co-workers, and providers is critical to the job.

Department Information

F ounded in 1875, Napa State Hospital is the only state hospital in Northern California for persons struggling with severe mental illness. Classified as a low to moderate security facility, the hospital has a bed capacity to treat up to 1,362 patients on an attractive campus with treatment units located on 138 acres. Staff is dedicated and committed to delivering high quality, cost-effective, professional services and specialized programs in an environment that promotes continuous improvements in treatment for individuals with mental disabilities.

Effective October 1, 2021, in accordance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) State Public Health Order of August 5, 2021, all workforce members in DSH state hospitals are required to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccination regimen. Prior to your first day, you will be required to fill out a COVID-19 Vaccination Consent Form.

Effective March 1, 2022, in accordance with CDPH State Public Health Order of December 22, 2021, hospital workforce members currently eligible for booster doses must have received their booster dose.

  • If you are fully vaccinated, you must provide evidence of vaccination prior to your start date.
  • If you are not fully vaccinated, you have the option to receive a vaccine from one of the State Hospitals prior to your start date.
  • If you are not fully vaccinated and choose to complete a request for an exemption, you must submit this exemption and receive approval prior to your start date.
  • If you are not yet eligible for a booster, you must be in compliance no later than 15 days after the recommended timeframe for receiving the booster dose.
