General Description and Classification Standards
Performs general maintenance tasks for the Department of Watershed Management. Duties include but are not limited to: performing general maintenance; delivering pruning, weeding, and mowing services; and performing additional tasks as assigned. Operations of light to heavy equipment based upon training, skills, and demonstration.
Supervision Received
Works under direct supervision and follows standardized procedures and written/verbal instructions to accomplish assigned tasks usually as part of a work crew.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs general maintenance tasks for buildings, maintaining cleanliness and general readiness.
- Performs general maintenance tasks for grounds and other DWM properties, including the removal of fallen tree limbs and debris; mowing the grass; sweeping the sidewalks; drain grates etc.
- Weeds, prunes and maintains flower beds, and shrubs, applying fertilizer and other chemicals necessary for growth.
- Paints and repairs walls and to include drywall, wallpaper.
- Repairs or assembles furniture and other office or outdoor equipment.
- Follows all safety precautions necessary in operating equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

- Must be adaptable to perform under minimal stress when confronted with an emergency.
- Physical ability to adapt to sometimes adverse weather conditions, and repetitive actions.
Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Must possess a valid Georgia driver's license.
Preferred Experience
6 months of experience in construction and/or maintenance in a water distribution or wastewater collection system.
